Our Community

Help is waiting for you at NOAH Clinic!

NOAH was founded in the late 1990s by Ira Combs, a nurse and instructor in the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska. Combs began with health education initiatives in North Omaha, including health fairs and a summer intern program. For a decade, he operated out of his office or car.

In 2012, NOAH secured a permanent space at 56th and Ames, allowing Combs to establish a clinic with regular office hours, providing essential healthcare to a community with limited options.

A Growing Impact for a Community in Need

NOAH serves over 2,200 individuals annually, and recent growth trends indicate that we may soon reach over 3,000+ patients per year.

This steady increase in patient volume reflects our expanding role and impact in the community and our success in reaching those who may not have otherwise sought care.

Each year, we provide essential health services to thousands of individuals who face significant barriers to accessing healthcare, such as financial constraints, lack of insurance, and geographical challenges.

Community Representation

Roughly two-thirds of NOAH’s patients are African American, highlighting our commitment to historically marginalized populations. Additionally, many of our patients lack health insurance, emphasizing NOAH's vital role in promoting health equity and addressing health disparities in the communities we serve.

Preventive Care Focus

NOAH emphasizes preventive care through lifestyle interventions to help prevent chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension. By focusing on education and proactive health management. Our preventive care efforts empower patients to take charge of their health, making long-term wellness achievable and reducing the need for emergency interventions.

Accessibility

Our clinic’s discreet and welcoming location serves as a safe and approachable setting, which is especially beneficial for individuals who may feel hesitant or intimidated by larger medical institutions. By creating an environment that feels inviting rather than clinical, we reduce barriers to care and ensure that patients feel comfortable and respected when they visit. This accessibility factor is a cornerstone of NOAH’s philosophy, ensuring that healthcare is approachable and available to those who need it most in our community.
